Class 4A Rankings (Feb. 14)

#1 Topeka Highland Park (17-0): The Scots have been nothing but impressive this season in playing a quality schedule and dismissing just about every opponent with ease. Washburn Rural is not a bad team and Hi Park just handed them a 41-point beatdown recently. The Scots shouldn't have much of an issue completing a perfect 20-0 season.

#2 Ottawa (17-0): I hope everyone has seen Semi Ojeleye's freak-of-nature alley-oop dunk he had last week. It's not Ottawa's fault that it doesn't play the quality of schedule that Hi Park plays. But that has to be a factor. The Cyclones continue to sweep up their competition this year, winning by an average of 31.1 points. That shouldn't fluctuate much these next three games.

#3 McPherson (15-2): If it wasn't for that head-scratching loss on the road to Circle, McPherson would probably have the No. 2 spot on lock. That's how good the Bullpups have been and how quality their schedule has been. Although they won't face a stiff test from here on out, they can still build a solid overall body of work.

#4 Kansas City Piper (14-4): I really like the strength of schedule for the Pirates and how they've fared against it for a Class 4A team. Now they're going to have to play their best ball of the season to pick up that 15th win because they play Basehor and then Lansing next week - two tough games.

#5 Andale (15-2): The Indians are going through another soft part of their schedule that continues this Friday. The strength of schedule is what holds them back and there's not another quality win left on the schedule, although wins over Clearwater and Collegiate would be solid.

#6 Hesston (16-2): The schedule has hit a soft spot, much like Andale, and Hesston is looking like a big favorite to finish the season with 18 wins. There's not much of an opportunity to move up, so all Hesston can do is keep winning.

#7 Abilene (15-3): The loss to Wamego last week was a little bit of a slip-up, but I still think Abilene's body of work speaks for itself and is better than both Coffeyville and Wamego (plus the Cowboys beat them earlier in the season). There's two gimme's left for the Cowboys, neither should be much of a challenge.

#8 Coffeyville (14-3): These next two games should go by without much of a struggle but that finale against Independence on the road will be a solid test. If the Golden Cyclones can win that one, they should have a decent shot at moving up since the teams above them have no more opportunities at solid wins like that.

#9 Wamego (14-4): The Red Raiders continue to play solid this season, improving to 4-0 in February last week with a huge road win at Abilene. That keeps them floating in the rankings, but they just haven't played as tough of schedule as the teams above them.

#10 Holton (14-4): Welcome the Wildcats to the Top 10 after an impressive streak of victories, including a perfect 5-0 record in February. They've played a solid schedule this season and 2 quality wins and 2 more solid wins is good enough to be ranked in 4A.
